Palmetto Trail/Blue Wall Passage

www.palmettoconservation.orgThe area, considered to be the crown jewel of SC's Palmetto Trail, features the rolling hills of the Upcountry, fine horse farms and farmlands, beautiful views, old forest, and clear ponds and streams. When complete, the entire Palmetto Trail will run for 425 miles across SC, from Oconee State Park in the Upcountry through the Lowcountry near Agenda. To access the Blue Wall Passage, take Exit 1 from I-26, SC Hwy. 14 west toward Landrum. Turn right, north on US Hwy. 176, and turn left at entrance to Lake Lanier. Follow W. Lakeshore Rd. around Lake and turn right onto Dug Hill Rd. and follow entrance to trail.

Fishing and hunting are allowed at Eastatoee Creek Preserve and Laurel Fork Preserve in Pickens County and Brasstown Creek Preserve in Oconee County. Hunting is allowed at Watson-Cooper, Chestnut Ridge, and Ashmore and on approximately 100 acres of Chandler Preserve in Greenville County and at Buzzard Roost in Oconee County.
Lake Hartwell
With nearly 56,000 acres of water and a shoreline of 962 miles, this lake affords rewarding fishing opportunities for the avid sportsman.
Lakes Jocassee and Keowee
These lakes are extremely popular fishing areas. With thousands of acres of cool, clear water and hundreds of miles of shoreline, the lakes provide a number of species of fish.
Other Upcountry Lakes
Other fishing lakes in the area include Lakes Cunningham and Robinson near Greer, Lakes Bowen, Blalock, Cooley and Edwin Johnson in Spartanburg; Saluda Lake, Matthews Creek and Oak Grove Lake in Greenville County; Lake Whelcel in Cherokee County; and Lake Oolenoy at Table Rock State Park in Pickens County.
Sumter National Forest
Quality hunting for deer, turkey, rabbits and squirrels is provided by the forest, and cold water streams provide excellent trout fishing, primarily for stocked fish.
